Definition
p(λ) = det(A - λ × E) = 0
Dabei ist E die Einheitsmatrix.
Beispiel
Die Matrix A aus dem Beispiel zu Eigenwerten war:
Eigenwerte berechnen
$$A = \begin{pmatrix}1 & 1 \\ 0 & 3 \end{pmatrix}$$
$$A - λ \cdot E = \begin{pmatrix}1 & 1 \\ 0 & 3 \end{pmatrix} - \begin{pmatrix} λ & 0 \\ 0 & λ \end{pmatrix}$$
$$= \begin{pmatrix}1 - λ & 1 - 0 \\ 0 - 0 & 3 - λ \end{pmatrix} = \begin{pmatrix}1 - λ & 1 \\ 0 & 3 - λ \end{pmatrix}$$
Die Determinante gleich Null gesetzt ist:
$$det(A - λ E) = (1 - λ) \cdot (3 - λ) - 0 \cdot 1 = 0$$
$$= 3 - λ - 3 \cdot λ + λ^2 = 0$$
$$=λ^2 - 4 \cdot λ + 3 = 0$$
$$x_{1/2} = \frac{-p}{2} \pm \sqrt {\left (\frac {p}{2}\right)^2 - q}$$
$$λ_1 = \frac{-(-4)}{2} + \sqrt {\left (\frac {-4}{2}\right)^2 - 3} = 2 + \sqrt {4-3} = 2 + 1 = 3$$
$$λ_2 = \frac{-(-4)}{2} - \sqrt {\left (\frac {-4}{2}\right)^2 - 3} = 2 - \sqrt {4-3} = 2 - 1 = 1$$
Die Eigenwerte der Matrix A sind 3 und 1.
Eigenvektoren berechnen
(A - λ × E) × x = 0
$$\begin{pmatrix}1 & 1 \\ 0 & 3 \end{pmatrix} - 3 \cdot \begin{pmatrix} 1 & 0 \\ 0 & 1 \end{pmatrix}$$
$$\begin{pmatrix}1 & 1 \\ 0 & 3 \end{pmatrix} - \begin{pmatrix} 3 & 0 \\ 0 & 3 \end{pmatrix}$$
$$\begin{pmatrix}-2 & 1 \\ 0 & 0 \end{pmatrix}$$
$$\begin{pmatrix}-2 & 1 \\ 0 & 0 \end{pmatrix} \cdot \begin{pmatrix} x_1 \\ x_2 \end{pmatrix} = \begin{pmatrix} 0 \\ 0 \end{pmatrix}$$
$$\begin{pmatrix}1 \\ 2 \end{pmatrix}$$
Kontrolle
Es muss erfüllt sein (vgl. Eigenwertproblem):
A × x = λ × x
$$\begin{pmatrix}1 & 1 \\ 0 & 3 \end{pmatrix} \cdot \begin{pmatrix} 1 \\ 2 \end{pmatrix}$$
$$= \begin{pmatrix} 1 \cdot 1 + 1 \cdot 2 \\ 0 \cdot 1 + 3 \cdot 2 \end{pmatrix}$$
$$= \begin{pmatrix} 3 \\ 6 \end{pmatrix} = 3 \cdot \begin{pmatrix} 1 \\ 2 \end{pmatrix}$$
$$\begin{pmatrix}2 \\ 4 \end{pmatrix}$$
$$\begin{pmatrix}3 \\ 6 \end{pmatrix}$$
Selbsttest: Charakteristisches Polynom
Aufgabe: Eigenwerte berechnen
Gegeben ist die Matrix:
$$A = \begin{pmatrix}3 & 1 \\ 0 & 2\end{pmatrix}$$
a) Berechnen Sie das charakteristische Polynom p(λ) = det(A − λE).
b) Bestimmen Sie die Eigenwerte von A.
a) Charakteristisches Polynom:
$$A - \lambda E = \begin{pmatrix}3-\lambda & 1 \\ 0 & 2-\lambda\end{pmatrix}$$
$$p(\lambda) = (3-\lambda)(2-\lambda) - 0 \cdot 1 = \lambda^2 - 5\lambda + 6$$
b) Eigenwerte (p(λ) = 0):
$$\lambda^2 - 5\lambda + 6 = 0$$
p-q-Formel mit p = −5, q = 6:
$$\lambda_{1/2} = \frac{5}{2} \pm \sqrt{\frac{25}{4} - 6} = \frac{5}{2} \pm \frac{1}{2}$$
λ1 = 3, λ2 = 2
